Coronavirus (COVID19) - as a result of the new England-wide lockdown, we will remain at RED readiness level for the time being. Please view the post for more info.

Uniform and Costs

Wearing a uniform is comfy and practical. It means no one feels uncomfortable or left out and helps everyone feel a part of the group. Our uniforms consist of a sweatshirt or a shirt that you sew badges on and a coloured scarf or ‘necker’ to represent the group.

There are lots of other optional accessories you can wear such as hats, hoodies, trousers or shorts. We also have available our Group Branded merchandise available to buy. Our young people mix and either wear their uniform of their Branded gear at meetings, events and camps.

Scouts uniform

If you’re not sure where to start, our leaders can give you more information about what to buy. They may even know if someone is selling a uniform second hand. There are grants available to help you buy a uniform, ask your leader for more details. To purchase your uniform, we recommend using our local District Scout Shop, to keep supporting local Scouting, or The Scout Shop online.

Each group charges a fee (called subscriptions or subs) to cover the costs of running their groups and their regular meetings – which covers venue overheads, admin, digital tools, insurances and materials for activities. There are sometimes extra charges for special activities, camps and events. We try to keep our subs as low as possible so that anyone can come to Scouts. If you need help paying subs, please speak to our Group Scout Leader.

Our Subs currently Stand at £120 per year, payable in 12 monthly payments of £10 through our Direct Debit system.
