Beavers and Cubs both have Book Reader badges, but let’s face it – with so many badges and skills, reading 6 books is a bit of a tough ask.
Not forgetting Scouts & Explorers – these two sections don’t have equivilent badges, but reading books is great at any age, and a fabulous way to pass the time! Be it on E-Readers or Paper Books, or even on a phone or tablet, they expand the mind and sometimes are educational!
That’s why Scouts UK launched The Scouts Book Club!
Launched in June, the book club selects a book over a couple of months for members to read – and even get a couple of sample chapters for free! There’s even a fun badge (blanket badge) to buy to show you’ve taken part! All selected books are also available in the Scout Store online, in addition to other outlets.
So why not check it out, see if you can catch up at https://www.scouts.org.uk/volunteers/running-your-section/programme-guidance/scouts-book-club/
For Beavers and Cubs, why not tie it in to your Book Reader badges – have a look to see what’s invovled:
Complete the badges on OSM Badges at Home, or discuss with your section’s leadership.
