You may have heard, or read about a new section in Scouting called ‘Squirrels’.

This new section, aimed at 4 and 5 year olds, is to help more young people gain skills for life at a time when it matters most, and where it’s most needed.

As Squirrels, young people will have the chance to:

  • Make friends
  • Have fun outdoors
  • Learn new things
  • Earn badges through fun activities

All whilst wearing a funky looking red coloured jumper, boasting the Scout’s World Membership badge!

Theres is much to do across the region before we’ll be able to set up a Squirrels ‘Drey’ at 1st Abram, not least of all a requirement to sign up volunteers to help to lead the section, and we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled, and our ears to the ground, waiting for more information to be fed down.

What we do know, is that we’ll only open a Squirrels Drey at 1st Abram when we have volunteers to do so, and when there’s sufficient interest – our primary way to assess interest is by those on our Beavers waiting list who are of Squirrel’s age, so why not express your interest and join our Beaver’s waiting list today, and if you’re up for a challenge, why not take a look at our volunteer journey, and sign up as a volunteer with 1st Abram Scout Group.
