This is the moment we’ve all been waiting for. Across the country the message for COVID-19 is changing from one of restricting life to stop the spread, to one of learning to live with COVID-19.

Today, we have received information from The Scouts UK (HQ) that we are, as of today, moving to a Green Readiness State.

This means: All activities can resume for members who live in England. Residential activities and international travel may take place.

Group sizes and limitations:

  • All non-residential activities (including young people, Scout Network and adult only groups): No limit on group size, although all activities must be able to safely manage the risk of transmission of COVID.
  • Residential activities: Nights away activities may take place.
  • International travel: Visits abroad may resume but must follow the FCDO travel advice and still manage the transmission of COVID and ensuring that the trips are safe and accessible.

There are still guidelines that we, as a leadership team, need to take into account, and we’ll need parent and young person cooperation to work within those guidelines, but this is excellent news, and a big step forward for Scouting in England.

As always, any activity is at the discretion of your Section Leaders, subject to approval by Group Scout Leader and, in some cases District Commissioner, and will be subject to appropriate risk assessment.
