Last week and this week, our Cubs continued their Skills Drive with knife handling skills.  The simple, but terrifying task of carving a piece of wood into a pointed stick.  Our Cubs are now comfortable in handling knives and have been provided knowledge of knife laws and safety.
For me, this is a really important skill to learn, and not just for its usefulness in making tools and supplies from nothing but sticks!  But removing the taboo from knives, understanding their use as a tool, and understanding the law surrounding knives, including how to work with respect for the police from such an early age is an important step to reducing knife crime in our society.
